"Duże sumy" to gra kościana, w której kluczem do zwycięstwa jest spryt i podejmowanie dobrych decyzji. Gra trwa określoną liczbę rund, zależną od liczby uczestników. Gracze starają się umiejętnie wykorzystywać kości i wywoływać reakcje łańcuchowe dzięki bonusom.

Gracz, który rzuca kośćmi jest graczem aktywnym. Kiedy wykona wszystkie swoje rzuty i zabierze trzy kości, jego tura się kończy. Pozostałe kości trafiają na srebrną tacę, a do gry wchodzą pozostali gracze. Są oni nazywani pasywnymi graczami. Wszyscy pasywni gracze mogą skorzystać z kości znajdujących się na srebrnej tacy.

Wyniki rzutów należy wpisywać na arkuszach gry, do obszarów w odpowiednich kolorach. Na każdy rzut można zaznaczyć tylko jedno pole albo wpisać jedną liczbę. Każde skreślenie czy wpisanie wyniku, przybliża gracza do zdobycia punktów, a tym samym do zwycięstwa. 

Uwaga: jeśli gracz nie ma towarzystwa, może zagrać sam. Celem jest wtedy zebranie możliwie jak największej liczby punktów.
